Marsha Skinner, a
modernist painter and calligrapher, collaborated with the Merce
Cunningham Dance Company on four major works, including Beach
Birds, Change of Address, Enter, and Ocean.
Marsha Skinner's obituary from the Santa
Fe New Mexican can be read here.

|
|
On January 31, 1992, the Merce Cunningham Dance
Company premiered Change of Address at the
University of Texas, Austin. This was the second of three
dances co-commissioned by the University of Texas. Change
of Address, with music by Walter Zimmermann and design by
Marsha Skinner, was an exploration of “unbalance,” with dancers
leaning, tumbling, falling, and toppling over. The third
co-commissioned dance, Tune In/Spin Out, premiered
at UT exactly four years later on January 31, 1996.
